Dear Friends of the Alliance,

A new school year is upon us and the need to free families and children from the grip of state schooling is as urgent as ever. Thanks in part to the efforts of the Alliance, the idea that parents and not the government should be in charge of the education of children has gained some prominent attention over the past year. Your encouragement and support has made all the difference.

But those who battle for control over the minds of America's children and young people are not backing down. If anything, they are intensifying their tactics and attack. You'll hear more from us soon on this, but for now we want to share some of the things we've recently posted on our web site to illustrate what's going on in the world of education - on both sides of the issue.

We know that many of you have been concerned about Marshall and his battle with pancreatic cancer. We're happy to report that at this time, Marshall is feeling good and his treatments seem to have kept the cancer at bay. You may enjoy taking a look at some pictures of the recent galas held to celebrate Marshall's life. And please, keep Marshall in your thoughts and prayers.

Finally, we always enjoy hearing from you. If you have thoughts or ideas you'd like to share with us, please us with them!

Yours,
Alan Schaeffer
